Rangers play a crucial role in conservation, not only by protecting endangered species like rhinos, and their habitats, but also by monitoring and maintaining them. Simple equipment such as boots, socks, uniforms and hats are essential for rangers’ safety and effectiveness, and helps to boost morale, showing rangers that they are valued and supported in their critical roles.

Rangers work under challenging conditions; scorching heat, rugged terrain, and long distances, all to protect and monitor rhinos, other endangered animals and the places they call home.

Every step a ranger takes is a step towards safeguarding rhinos. You can make sure they have the right equipment to keep going.

Donations made between 27 May and 5 June 2025 will be doubled.

Step up for Rangers is Save the Rhino International’s match funding appeal, which aims to raise £20,000 to provide rangers in Africa with the equipment they need to continue their vital work in monitoring and protecting rhinos.

Save the Rhino International has secured £11,250 in match funding from Save the Rhino International Inc and two individual donors. This means that every donation made up to £11,250 during the appeal will be doubled. In other words, £10 becomes £20 and makes twice the impact.

£20,000 is our goal, however, if we are in a fortunate position to raise more, then this will allow us to provide even more rangers with the equipment that they need to work safely and effectively.

Donations made during our Step up for Rangers appeal can be completed from anywhere in the world, however, they must be made in GBP via our website. It is your responsibility to be aware of any international charges made by your bank.

All donations will be made on the Save the Rhino website, using a debit/credit card and express options including Apple and Google Pay. The following card types are accepted: Mastercard, American Express and Visa.
