Save the Rhino has won second place and will receive £5,000 from the Animal Friends Pet Insurance Charity competition!
Save the Rhino were chosen to participate in the Animal Friends Pet Insurance Charity competition. Thank you to everyone who voted for Save the Rhino, we are delighted to share that we have won the second prize of £5,000 from Animal Friends Pet Insurance to help our work protecting rhinos.
Poaching of rhinos for their horns is the biggest threat to the rhino’s survival, with the number of rhinos killed increasing over 9,000% since 2007 in South Africa alone. At the current rate of poaching, rhinos could be extinct in the wild in 11 years. Your vote can help us save rhinos by protecting all five rhino species in Africa and Asia and supporting the communities that share their habitat.
The top prize will go to the charity with the most votes from the general public on the competition page. Animal Friends Pet Insurance kindly offers prizes for each of the six chosen charities, ranging from £1,000 up to £8,000 for the charity with the most votes, so every vote helps!
Thank you so much for your support.

Save the Rhino International (SRI) works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. By funding field projects and through education, its goal is to deliver material, long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos and other endangered species, ecosystems and to the people living in these areas. It aims to increase the number of rhinos in genetically viable populations in the wild; enhance the integrity of ecosystems and to ensure that local communities benefit from conservation activities.
About Animal Friends Pet Insurance
Animal Friends Pet Insurance was founded by Elaine Fairfax in 1998 with the sole aim of providing pet insurance as a means to help support animal welfare charities. Elaine had worked closely with many animal charities throughout her life but she wanted to do even more to help animals. Thus, she decided to use her business skills to raise substantial funds through something people need; pet insurance. Since its inception Animal Friends Pet Insurance has grown to become not only an award-winning business but one of the largest pet insurance providers in the UK (Datamonitor 2013). Currently in their 16th year, Animal Friends Pet Insurance looks after over 400,000 pets and offer cover for cats, dogs and horses (including rider insurance) with a range of different types of policy available.
