The Running Rhinos
The Running Rhinos are community fundraisers with a difference. Consisting of two rhino-suit clad runners and eight supporting runners. Brad Schroder and Greg Canning have been tackling international running events all over the globe so they can educate and inspire people at the source of the poaching crisis in consumer countries, where rhino horn is bought.
They know that the demand for illegal animal goods is causing the eradication of rhinos and many other endangered species. They could no longer fight this battle in silence and solitude and are now ready to give it their all, to raise money for rhino conservation.
Whether you donate one dollar or a million dollars, be one in a million and donate towards this worthy cause…
They both work for Welgevonden Game Reserve, Brad in the capacity as CEO and Greg as a researcher and volunteer coordinator. This journey is not only physically and mentally challenging but also extremely personal.
The Running Rhinos have represented Save the Rhino International (SRI) at running events since 2014, including the London Marathon in 2014 and 2015, the Great Wall of China Marathon in 2016 and the Blackmores Sydney Marathon followed by South Africa’s Kaapsehoop Marathon in 2017.
We will run a marathon on every continent in our quest to spread awareness around the world, to educate as many people as possible and to raise funds for the plight of the worlds’ rhinos. After which we will travel as and when we can to cities throughout the world to continue this awareness campaign.
Where next? In December 2019 the Running Rhinos, sponsored by Mhondoro Game Lodge will be rising to the challenge by taking on the Antarctic Ice Marathon.
The Running Rhinos are looking for sponsors and partners to join them in their objective to help save what is left of the rhinos in South Africa and the world.
“We are asking that you or your company consider making a contribution to our cause either in the form of sponsorship or a contribution towards our fundraising effort. All monies raised go via SRI to ensure that every cent raised goes to rhino conservation and not into the pockets of unscrupulous individuals. Monies raised will then be made available to rhino conservation projects monitored by SRI around the world, including the Waterberg region of Limpopo Province, South Africa.”
