Running rhinos through China

On Saturday 21 May 2016, Brad Schroder, Greg Canning, Panayota Galanakis and Wilna-Marie van Staden will be taking the plight of the rhino to the heart of China.

All four runners will be pushing their bodies to the limit as they attempt to complete one of the worlds most difficult marathons…in rhino costume. The Great Wall Marathon in China starts north of Huangyaguan Village and takes these rhino runners on a 42 kilometre loop through goat tracks, beside river beds and along the iconic Great Wall of China. This incredible feat of physical ability is being undertaken in an attempt to spread awareness, stimulate education and raise funds for rhinos.

Brad and Greg are both passionate conservationists and have made their careers in this field. Combined they have been actively involved in rhino conservation for the past four decades. They are joined on the run by rhino keepers Panayota and Wilna-Marie. Working with rhinos on a daily basis, this is cause close to all their hearts.

All funds raised will go directly to rhino conservation through Save the Rhino International. 50% of the funds raised through Save the Rhino will go towards rhino related conservation projects including protection, security and education initiatives in the Waterberg Area of the Limpopo Province, managed by Welgevonden Game Reserve NPC.

“We are looking for One Million AMAZING people to donate only R1.00” says Schroder “These small amounts add up quickly and will allow us to achieve our goal of raising R1 Million… Be One in a Million and make your small contribution to this amazing cause. Please ask family, friends, colleagues, clients, school friends any anyone else you can think to donate this R1.00 – YOU can make a difference!”

Brad and his team are hoping to raise R1,000,000, equivalent to £50,000. Find out how you can help support them in theGreat Wall Marathon.
