Rangers are the people at the forefront of rhino conservation. They are dedicated men and women doing one of the toughest, yet most important jobs on our planet. Despite their vital role and expertise, many rangers lack the equipment they need to do their job safely and effectively. With funding stretched thin for all ranger units, simple but essential everyday items, including boots, uniforms, hats and socks, are often patched up, reused, or replaced far too late.
That’s why, between 27th May and 5th June, every pound you give will be doubled to help us provide more vital items for rangers. Together with you and our generous match funders, we aim to raise £20,000 to equip the men and women protecting rhinos in Africa with the kit they need and deserve.
A good kit makes a big difference. Sturdy boots can prevent sprained ankles and blisters. Proper uniforms can protect against bites, thorns, and weather. Durable, resilient equipment means rangers can respond faster to poaching incidents, monitor animals more effectively, and patrol more safely through wild landscapes. But the impact goes beyond the physical. It reminds rangers they’re not forgotten: that their work is seen, valued, and supported by people like you.
In the past decade, more than one thousand rangers around the world have lost their lives. Their work is tough. The risks are real. And the impact they make is extraordinary. Well-equipped and supported rangers are critical to safeguard Africa’s rhinos and other endangered species for generations to come.
