Canine units need YOUR help!

Rhinos are iconic animals. Yet their future is at risk. Every day, international crime networks threaten their existence, illegally killing them for their horns. Armed and well-coordinated, criminals are often one step ahead, exploiting endangered rhino populations and local people for profit. Protecting rhinos from this threat takes teamwork, dedication and the help of man’s best friend. Specially trained dogs work alongside rangers and conservation teams, helping to keep rhinos safe. With exceptional tracking abilities and the confidence to work in challenging conditions, canine units locate illegal activity faster, safer and more accurately than human patrols alone.

From midday on 2 December to midday on 9 December 2025, every donation you make to our Paws on Patrol appeal will be doubled, up to £50,000. Your support will help keep these incredible dogs healthy, equipped and ready to protect rhinos, other wildlife, their habitats and the communities living nearby. “My dog is my partner, he is an extension of my senses with whatever work we are doing at the time…The dog can follow suspects much faster than I can, they can also protect me when I am working at night.” ‘Lucky’, Dog Handler, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, South Africa
