If you’ve done London, and raced through New York, why not…
… try one of the following:
Great Wall of China Marathon (May)
The Great Wall of China marathon is simply one of the experiences of a lifetime! With 7km of the route on the actual wall and the remainder through magnificent villages and along beautiful country trails, you’ll be experiencing a unique marathon of incredible proportions. If the thought of all those steps puts you off, then try the half marathon instead.
Safaricom marathon and half marathon (June)
There are few more extraordinary places in the world to run a marathon than Lewa Downs Conservancy in Laikipia, Kenya. The Safaricom marathon and half marathon are harder than most, with heat, altitude and an uneven surface to contend with; on the other hand this will be the only time you will ever have giraffe running alongside the track with you, or have helicopters up above you looking out for elephant, lions and angry rhinos!
Himalayan 100-mile stage race (October-November)
If you don’t fancy walking the Rhino Trek India, why not run it! Split into five stages, you run through Sikkim in India, close to Darjeeling and the Nepalese border. If you dare risk looking up from the track, the views are breathtaking!
Che Guevara Trail marathon, Cuba (January)
Cuba is known not only for its cigars, music and beautiful old cars, but is also increasingly recognised as a running destination. The Che Guevara Trail marathon and 25 km race give you a chance to see another side of Cuba.
