Spend a week in August 2010 with Save the Rhino for a trekking challenge through some of South Africa’s most beautiful game reserves.....
Location: Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South AfricaDuration: 5 days of trekking; 8 days in totalDistance: Average distance of 18kms/day (mountainous savannah terrain)Group size: 8 participants per group plus two guides (there will be a maximum of 3 groups)
In the heart of the Kingdom of the Zulu, at the foothills of the Lebombo Mountains our journey will start. Our route, especially and exclusively designed for Rhino Trek South Africa, will take the trekking groups through game reserves which are part of the Black Rhino Range Expansion Project; for which you will be raising funds. All these reserves also host various other big game such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe and hippo; not to mention being a birding “hotspot” with over 350 species present in this area.
With five days of trekking through these reserves, and camping under the stars, you can be assured of a true African experience and that you will be able to get up close and personal with some of the most amazing creatures to walk, swim and fly our planet.
You will cover nearly 100kms in five days, trekking your way through savannah and the rolling mountains of this area. Participants must be capable of walking for up to eight hours per day in mild but humid conditions.
